Upgrade HV-01 Hard Drives, Part Four

So I decided to go ahead and migrate VM-02 to HV-03. The migration is very quick and easy. So I started running some diagnostics on the hard drives in HV-01. They all come back fine. Weird. What is going on?

I ran multiple diagnostics from a few different pieces of software, and all the hard drives report back fine. This server, HV-01 has eight hard drives in it. So I started unplugging them one by one just to see if the systems performance would change. This was a good hunch as performance did improve. It turned out two of the SATA cables were bad, one of which had been connected to the OS drive. Eliminating those two cables and replacing them with new ones resolved all the sluggish performance issues.

It just goes to show you those cables are not infallible and can go bad without reporting any actual problems.
