So the issue ended up being that Active Directory and Authentik were using the email address [email protected] for the administrative account, and Bookstack's administrative account, named david was also associated with the email address [email protected], which was trying to sync to my Active Directory/Authentik account david and failed due to the same email address. I ended up having to tear down the Authentik integration to Bookstack, then changing the email address associated with Bookstack's david account to [email protected] then reintegrating Authentik and Bookstack. Now everything is working great!

Two lessons to take from this process:

First, your security should really be your foundation and set up first. It would have been a much easier process if account information was set or standardized before setting it up inside all the different applications you are using.

The second lesson is being able to integrate my first application into Authentik. This should help give me a method of following the steps from Bookstack's integration for getting other applications set up.
